HOT off the PRESSES!

West Coast Collection

I created these beauties to pay homage to my favorite places...and favorite color palette - blue.🎨

The first one is "The Lake". I knew the moment I took this photo, it was special. On a quiet winter night, we went for a drive and found this amazing place to capture the stillness and romance of my favorite lake.

"Vancouver no.2". The Granville area of Vancouver is always beautiful, and on the day of this photo, it did not disappoint.

As I admired the view, I try not to take for granted the absolute juxtaposition of nature and urban and how they coexist so beautifully here.

The trees and the high-rises living side by side. This is my intention for this piece.

Emulating the textures of trees with papers, illustration, paint and stencil, this is Vancouver to me.

"The Pier". Living in Port Moody has given me the opportunity to witness this beautiful city for all seasons. The pier, in all it's nautical charm and meeting point for many visitors, gave me a gift that day; this photo and inspiration for a new art piece. Using archival newspaper articles for collage, and illustrative trees this Port Moody mixed media piece is one of my favorites.

"Vancouver no.1". While taking a walk with my husband, this view captured my attention. No matter how long I've lived here (transplanted from Edmonton in 1999), I just can't take for granted how beautiful this city is. Capturing the urban rawness, and with the softness of the water, this shot is one of my favorites. The illustrative touches like the crows (so many crows!),the crane (always building new towers) and my own writing, incorporate my own observations over the years.

Local Shout Out

I have purchased this soap for awhile now, so I thought it was about time, I mentioned how much I love it.

Made by a  maker in Langley, here's what they say on their website, "We use only 100% finest plant based botanical oils and natural ingredients to handcraft our soaps that is safe for both your skin and earth."

That must be why I love it so much. So many suds, so little time! :) My current favorite is Lavender Rosemary Purple Clay.

check them out on instagram @rusticsheasoapco or click the photo for the link.

Also a shout out to Willow and Wallflower in Port Moody, where I buy all my soap. :)

My Favorite Things (right now)

My favorite thing right now is the Makers store!

As soon as I got accepted I jumped on amazon to shop for a displayer. So exciting! Usually there's a waiting list, but they happened to have an opening and I got the last slot!

The thing I love about this store is they use this space to house all local artisans. The Artist pays rent for a space, and then all the sales are 100% yours!

Can't wait until summer when the tourists are let loose. :) It's located in the Shipyards, just off the coffee shop and skating rink. The biggest draw for this area is the Quay, where the ferry ports from downtown Vancouver. Full of delicious food, shopping and outdoor seating.

We are heading to the park today, next to the Quay for a walk in the sunshine today. Yes you heard me right, SUNSHINE in Vancouver in March! Not today, rain.... not today.

Thanks for hanging out with me!

I look forward to “seeing” you in the next newsletter. Until then, stay safe, be kind to yourself and shop local when you can. 🎨

Artfully Yours,
